Agency: Russian invest climate improves, business oversight worsens
KALININGRAD, Dec 13 (PRIME) -- Russian businessmen see higher pressure from oversight authorities despite improvement of the investment climate in the regions, Vitaly Khramushin, head of the investment climate department of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, said in a conference on Wednesday.
“In general, we’ve registered improvement of the investment climate in Russia. But activities of control and oversight authorities, including cases when corruption emerges, is one of the major factors that worsen the big picture. Last year, the business registered a 37% worsening of the estimate of the corruption level, so the business generally sees tightening of pressure on its activity,” he said.
The Kaliningrad Region is one of Russia’s regions that show improvement in the work of business oversight authorities. “I should do justice to the best practices, like the practice of holding all unscheduled inspections only after coordination with the head of the region. Other regions are now trying to copy these practices. The Kaliningrad Region is an objective leader in this,” he said.
